There is a moment in every goat yoga class when a small, extremely confident goat climbs onto someone’s back mid-pose and simply… stays there. Nobody is in charge anymore. The instructor is not in charge. The woman on the mat is definitely not in charge. The goat is in charge.
That moment happened a lot on Sunday, September 13, at Western Trails Park. And it was exactly the point.
We made the six o’clock news
KTNV Channel 13 meteorologist Linh Truong came out to try goat yoga for herself, and her story aired on the 6 PM news on September 15. She talked with first-timer Maria, who practices yoga regularly but had never done it with goats, and with our founder, Leah Martin. Watch the full segment:

How the evening unfolded

5:30 — Arrive and say hello. Women checked in, grabbed a refreshment and met the people they’d be sharing a mat-adjacent patch of grass with. Plenty of them came solo. That’s by design: you don’t need to already know someone to belong here.
6:00 — Goat yoga. One private, beginner-friendly hour of gentle movement, with goats roaming, climbing, cuddling and generally refusing to follow the program. Perfect poses were not required. Perfect poses were also not achieved. Nobody minded.

7:00 — Sips and nibbles. Mats rolled up, nobody went home. A grazing table and specialty non-alcoholic drinks kept everyone around for the kind of conversation that happens when nobody is trying to “network.”

Everyone left with a Choose Joy wildflower seed sheet: a small, plantable reminder to make room for the things that light you up.
Choose joy. Then go make it happen.
When Linh asked Leah what La Vita Ladies is about, she didn’t give a mission statement. She gave the real answer:
“Living La Vita Ladies is all about girls having some fun and getting out to do things that we wouldn’t do in our ordinary life. So, choosing joy and finding a way to make it happen.”

Here’s the thing about accomplished women: we’re very good at scheduling the important stuff and very bad at treating fun as important stuff. It gets deferred to next quarter, then the quarter after that. An evening like this one is a small, deliberate act of not deferring. You can’t answer email with a goat on your back. You can’t perform “fine” while laughing that hard. For an hour, you’re just there.

What’s next
If you missed this one, the next chance to join us is the Intentional Life Retreat on Sunday, October 11: one day to decide what your next year is actually for, and leave with the plan.
